Programa académico

In your first year, you will learn about how power, authority and cultural value are represented in the media and explore the ethical and social responsibilities of the mass media. You will experiment with different publishing platforms including magazines, books, newspapers, and online as well as taking a practical, workshop based module in media production where you will learn about industry standard production methods at all stages of the production cycle.

In your second year, you will build on your production skills in the Advanced Media Production module, work independently and collaboratively on creative magazine or book projects, and develop research techniques in preparation for your final year project. You will also be able to choose from modules in visual cultures, global journalism or communication techniques.

Your final year of study involves increased specialisation. In the Publishing Cultures module, you will look at two distinct areas of publishing in detail, for example, alternative lifestyle magazines, comics and graphic novels, video blogging or arts publishing. There are a variety of optional modules to choose from and your independent project will allow you to focus on your own area of interest and demonstrate the practical and theoretical knowledge you have gained during your course.
