During this Build your own MA (BYOMA) short course you will develop skills and knowledge in the field of animation rigging for computer animation purposes, enhancing your ability to deal with changing theories and techniques in your continuing career. You will study a number of subjects which form the foundation of rigging for animation productions, allowing you to explore and develop rigs that are innovative and fit for purpose.
The course will be underpinned with a comprehensive study of anatomy amd basic body mechanics, design considerations and implications when using different types of motion data, how the animation process dictates and informs the manufacture/design of production rigs, and user interface design. Finally, you will investigate the demands a technical director experiences across a variety of projects using different types of media.

Course details Integral to our courses is the belief that people improve their professional practice by taking time out to reflect on and reassess what they currently do in the workplace and by sharing their real life experiences with the other like minded professionals. As a result each course is unique and geared to the experiences of the individuals that are participating, which may result in the course content altering slightly from course to course. This short course will examine topics such as: Biped and quadruped anatomy Exoskeletons Body mechanics The animator’s workflow Rigging for automated and procedural animation Rigging for different types of motion data Rigging characters Rigging vehicles The differences in rigging for games and feature film, emphasis on the production pipeline and output GUI design.
